Webcomix thing March 2010

Just connected up the Google Buzz feed to all my multifarious hoses ... thought I'd do a quick post to see how it works.

So the webcomix thing on 27th March, we have a table, and we have 2 comics.

My effort is Wychwolf, a tale of evil Nazi scientists, medical experiments, and pyramids, in leafy wartime Sussex...with none of the old guff you might find in a Dan Brown howler.

Dom's effort also seems to be slightly Nazi based.. which now I come to think of it is a bit of worry...

Adam is writing a transcript of my story to make the comic more accessible.

Dom's first job

So the illustration job for the Appuldurcombe falconry centre is done, and I think the results aren't too bad.

I did a pencil sketch, which Dom inked up, I did a little tidying of lines, then handed them back to him to colour.

Practice makes perfect

I still haven't got Manga studio doing what I want.. I've managed to work out how to reset the page to landscape, using a custom page... I've managed to get an import scan into the background.. but some bits just confound me.

However I have found a "Dummies" book on google books

Hmmm, it's January, which means we only have a couple of months to knock this stuff into shape...

ooooooh boy.

FREE IWB

Resolutions

Not just new years resolutions, but getting to grips with working at 600dpi in MangoStudio.

I like the feel of the pens, which give the big bold strokes a bit of life... though on small lines it's pretty tricky to gues what they'll actually render, so the marker seems best there..

However getting used to the other stuff is tricky. and colouring seems to be an insurmountable hurdle.

I'm going to invest some "lounging around on holiday" time to getting a better grip on this..

but for now, I can sketch like a demon in the Mangostudio, but have to colour in the Photosop.

Owl Stretching time

My dear old Friend John Owen at Appuldurcombe House on the Isle of Wight (http://www.appuldurcombe.co.uk/falconry.html) dropped me a line asking for a couple of sketches to be used around his falconry centre to update a design I'd forgotten I'd done years ago.

I thought his would be a good opportunity for Dom to make a start with setting up the basics of a freelance illustration business. I'm doing the pencils, and Dom will do the inking up.
