Fin Fang Foom

hmmm what started as a nice turnaround of the Hulk rips wolverine in half story, hasn't worked so well with the red background.
No matter.

10 Tons of Greek Myth

This weeks ten ton sketch challenge is Greek Mythology.
I had a quick go at ARES, and a less convincing Medusa.
Ares looks a little stumpy in this pic, but I like the overall look...

I'm going to add a splash of blood, and will then play about colouring in Photoshop.... although the entry for ten ton has to be hand drawn...
"Sketches can be pencil, ink, black & white, or color. You CANNOT use your computer to render, color or enhance your drawing --the posted version that people vote on has to be exactly what you can physically send to the winner if he/she wants your piece as a prize.NO copying or tracing.  Your image has to be original. NO SWIPING! NO OLD ARTWORK, your entry has to be a new piece of art specifically for the Sketch Challenge."

#24HCD post4- page 1 inked and scanned

Just over 4 hours in, and I have managed to ink up page one... because it was an easy page... borrowing from the 10 ton studio logo.
I've scanned it, and resized it, but had no time to do any tidying up.
I have to go have lunch now.

change the ink

This week's 10 ton sketch challenge is "Hellboy covers", so how could I not enter.
I did a quick sketch of a couple of my favourite covers, and they were horrible.
It merely proved to emphasise how very very talented Mr Mignola is.
In the end I managed to do a half decent pencil sketch of the cover of "seed of destruction", and then I inked it up.
I picked the DELETER black No.4 ink as it's much more waterproof in theory, so when I add a colour wash it shouldn't smear so much. I was really quite surprised at how easy the ink went down, not as black as the No.3 but pretty quick drying, and pretty much going where I wanted it.

Anyway, I'm quite pleased, and now realise I should have a go at using some of the other DELETER inks I have scattered over my desk.

Babbage and Lovelace

If you haven't seen the stuff over here: http://sydneypadua.com/2dgoggles/
Go check it out.
Sydney does this in a very Eisner style, so either get out your nib pens, or change it up a little.

Ada Lovelace (beloved first programmer) the only legitimate child of MAD BAD and dangerous to know nutcase Lord Byron… and Charles Babbage, father of computing.

Brunel-bot vs the Kraken

Always had problems with the Kraken in Bristol,  forever sweeping small children into the deep as a light snack... until Brunel-bot decided enough was enough..
Anyway... this week the 10 ton sketch challenge is "Daikaiju".. the sort of Giant Godzilla like creatures that are constantly laying waste to Japan.
I always like a giant killer robot, and a giant killer squid.. but as always I cocked up.. the legs are wonky, and the clifton suspension bridge looks tiny.. I need to add some cars for scale I guess.

BPRD- Western Style

10ton studio challenge this week is BPRD out West.
I thought it made sense to have a new team member called Dark Horse...
unfortunately I think it looks more like Dark Donkey...

Furious

Whilst I only managed to dash off a pencil sketch for last weeks 10 ton sketch challenge, I found it really enjoyable.. the style felt right for me, unforced. I thought I'd try something similar this week for Nick Fury .. it's not gone as smoothly, but it has been a quick sketch and ink process, all done while watching iplayer with Dom, then inked whilst hiding from "Downton Abbey".
I took a pic with my phone, so not sure how it'll look here:
