Mighty Cthulhu

I think the latest version of Mountain Lion is playing games with my scanner. It takes some "rubber chicken" magic to get it working, plug, unplug, press copy button etc.
I must spend a bit of time to work out what the problem is or I'm sure it'll bite me on the bum at a time of urgency.
