Flimsy, by design. A friend of mine had a 2cv and said it was the best thing he ever bought, always entertaining, and designed with built in give and flex. I had a Triumph Spitfire which wasn't designed to have that give and flex but did anyway. The whole scuttle was a bit bendy.
Terrifying when I think about it.
