30 drawing apps in 30 days- day 19 Graphite Lite

I've blazed through most of the "high end" sketching apps, from big reputable companies, and am starting to venture into the area populated by companies I've never heard of.
Some are truly awful, and covered in banner ads placed to catch your hand whilst you sketch... but this one Graphite Lite, and it's sister app "pen and ink", from stepstone mobile seem well considered and executed.
The Lite version of Graphite is limited to three graphite tools, a pencil, a charcoal stick and a pointy graphite thing... all with fixed widths and sensitivity, and doesn't allow selection of some of the other "brushes" ... however these three and the 2 erasers are pretty good for basic sketching, or tracing over the imported photo layer as I've done here.

The Zoom works well, and there's a proper undo button, the only criticism I have is that I couldn't get a really tight deep gouging pencil line, and had to go over sections again and again to build up the shade, but that may be unlocked with the "upgrade"
The demo version is also limited to 2 sketches, and runs adverts in the gallery- not thankfully in the work area.
It exports to the photo gallery, dropbox, other apps, email, twitter and whatnot.
I'm plesantly surprised by the app.

Today's sketch challenge was "musical"

See the dog faced boy...

I had a meeting over coffee last week in the cafe under Methodist Central Hall, I was early and was delighted to see an art exhibition on display.
Whilst I wasn't really attracted to any of the works, which were all done in coloured pencils (this being an exhibition arranged by the UK coloured pencil society) I was intrigued by the sideshow put on by the sponsors: Faber Castell.
There were a couple of sculptures made out of pencils, including a ridiculously uncomfortable chair...

... more amusingly there was a display which held "the worlds smallest pencil".. which wasn't really very small at all.

"The smallest pencil in the world is 17.5mm short and about 3mm thin, made of North American spruce with a genuine graphite lead (0.5 mm diameter). Count Von Faber-Castell had this tiny object specially made to be able to givean appropriate present when the world's largest pencil was unveiled at the Faber-Castell plant in Malaysia."
I don't know what delights me more, the idea that this , the worlds smallest pencil could be trumped by another which was sharpened, precipitating a "worlds smallest pencil" record breaking sharpening match...
OR that there is a Count Von Faber Castell, presumably with a cape, and monocle.

Crush them with facts

Because I am so very very well organised, I have Monday's Wych wolf page up and sitting in the Comic Press queue already..
Because I am shortsighted, i am not using the time to get ahead of myself, and build a buffer, but to dally in the rockpools, and have a go at a guest strip for my chum Steve's "Policy Police' strip.

I've had a quick sketch and my version of the protagonists are now alive in glorious pencilovision..
I've got to knock out a couple of backgrounds, and then I'll knuckle down to the task.
Should have something by the end of the day with luck.

Pencils

Dom enjoyed himself doing a big A3 pic the other day, so I have pencilled up a Scarecrow/Batman pic for him to ink up...
He said he was going to do that tonight.... but seems to be stuck playing Banjo Kazooie instead.
