I thought I'd best draw Beowulf, who's only notable feature seems to be he has strong hands.

I started drawing him as a man ripping up a telephone directory, or a Dane Great Hall equivalent, like a pig... but it looked weird, he then started looking like a wrestler, so I went all in and gave him the luche libre Sutton Hoo mask/helmet.
Have you ever looked at the Sutton hoo helmet, it looks pretty dorky.

I think it's the Moustache... apparently moustaches are coming back, and I keep seeing youth on youtube with little midge ure efforts, or bushy Tom Sellick ones.

It makes me laugh, properly out loud.

 Got bored of doing warriors so did the dragon at the end of the story.

Sadly looking for references the internet is full of the nonsense film.

So you get a wormy dragon, Dom asked if it was a GertWorm 

It's probably not, it's the same sort of dragon I've been doing for the last 40 years.

 waaay back in the past I drew this guy as a biro sketch when I thought it might be fun to do the whole of inkober in biro. I'd obviously forgotten that even REAL Bic biros are a bit blotchy.

So because I thought the chap I drew todat was a bit rubbish I thought I'd ink up this old fellow a bit.

I can still do it apparently... today the fellow is a bit of a mis step, but still, sketched, inked and coloured.

No-one knows but me.

And that's fine.

Maybe I'm ready for a story.

That's 19 'warriors', so we need a few more to get to 30 within the next 6 days.

Sadly the nimbleness of youth probably won't be much use.

Little Eric, he's got a knife, and he's bringing it to a Grendel fight.

 When I first sketched this fellow he was doing a lean on the wall whilst talking to a lady type stance, but then it felt better to have him leaning on a wall to catch his breath...
By the time I'd inked it up it looks more like he's suffering from piles and having a bit of a trouser wince...

Whatever he's now 'Old Ben' usually he lives out beyond the Dunes.. see?

But he came to town because there was a feast, and he was invited. He didn't want to come, but didn't want to disappoint anyone, and now he's really regretting that.
No-one would have even noticed, even more so now they are all being minced up by Grendel.

 Well, we're two thirds of the way through, and lacking in the thirty warriors we need for the tale.

So far I count 12 actual warriors, a King, a Queen, a Bishop a Bard, and a Battle Goat.

 Now I've drawn this I think I may have been thinking of a shot in 300 where someone jumps in the air.. not sure, can't be bothered to check.

 Uncertain Eric, never one to make the first strike, stands at the side, shrugging at those more involved in the fight and asking if he should throw the spear, or maybe wait? He's just not sure and doesn't want to be a burden, but you know it would be helpful if someone could make the plan more clear.

RIP Eric.

 Arnold two ax was busy at the back of the great hall having an axe throwing contest.

Have you ever tried axe throwing? It's entertaining, but to be honest if you run some numbers, the actual forces involved are pretty poor.

As are Arnolds chances against Grendel.

Kurt Big Knuckles, has been showing off his arm arm wrestling skills at the back of the great hall.

He doesn't need any weapons, Grendel is a big bloke, and he's smashed better blokes for breakfast... buuut he hasn't, he's just seen the normal array of toughs.

Scimitar Sven brandishes his sword, which isn't a scimitar but a sword, but he doesn't know that, and he spends a lot of time telling people how much better his scimitar is than their longsword.

It's not, it doesn't even graze Grendel's skin, and when I say Skin I mean scaly armour.
